Today was a very hard day as my 6 year old grandson Colin had to have surgery. He is quite an amazing little boy ,so full of life, happy as can be,and brave,I couldn’t be prouder of him, he is a wonderful child so loving and so much fun.
Colin has been struggling at night with snoring, and sleep apnea ,at times he would even stop breathing during night which is scarrey. He also was talking very nasaly.Colin also had water behind his ears. So my daughter Kierstyn took him to ears, nose and throat specialist and he said Colin would need to have his tonsils removed,as well as anenoids removed and tubes put in his ears to drain the water behind his ears.
I felt so bad for my daughter Kierstyn as she tried to be strong ,but under it all she was worried about her baby boy under going anesthesia.I had gone through this with her as a teen and my son who just turned 16 had this surgery a few months ago. I was feeling very worried as well.It was very painful surgery for both my kids and they were older. As a parent or grand parent it just breaks your heart to see your children/grand children in pain.
My grandson was so brave,a little trooper about the whole thing until they tried to put in iv and couldn’t get it in,poor little guy cried(I cried),they tried a second time and couldn’t get it in, and to hear my little grandson cry from pain just made me feel so hurt for him. They had to wait until they put him under to get iv in third attempt.
He went in and was done in less than an hour ,woke up crying, confused and in pain. But he still was brave, calmed down and sat up eating a popsicle and drinking milk shakes which was a relief to him. What a popular little guy he is the room was filled with all our family. He loved all the attention.
Night time has come and he is in pain, but very Blessed to have a wonderful mommy taking the best care of him.My daughter is a great Mom and he will get lots of love, attention and cuddles with her caring for him.He will need two weeks recovery time and is not allowed to go to school .He is very happy to stay home with mommy and not have to go to school.I am so grateful that his surgery was successful and he will soon be on the mend.
I told him once he was able to et I would buy him all the goodies he wanted to make up for all he can’t have now!
