As a mother, you’ve got some big responsibilities lying on your shoulders. That’s just the way it is.
We are expected to cook, clean, scold, educate and care for our children to ensure that their childhood is the foundation for a great adult life. That’s a huge ask and a massive task and sometimes it can seem really tough. While you may have wanted kids, you might not have imagined the responsibility that comes with having children!
And it’s not just the things you can help with, the stresses of school and growing up isn’t fun and while you might think that you’ve got it hard – the kids aren’t going to know any better and this stress is relative. You might know what it was like at school, but they’ve got no idea what a day at your accounting firm is like! They have no measure here, and you’ve got to care for them. It might seem hard, with work in the way – but there are plenty of ways you can succeed here, and have fun while doing so.
You need to get a big family hobby going – something that everyone can get involved with. You’re going to spend more time cleaning clothes, but that’s the cost of good fun. Here’s where sports come in.
There’s no harm in getting yourself and your kids active, and it could do their mind and body the world of good. If they are into football, take them down to park! Don’t forget to reward them with some Premier Trophies football trophies, though; everyone likes to feel like Cristiano Ronaldo, every once in awhile. It all depends on their interests, but you should definitely do your job as a parent and help your kids develop an interest in getting active.
Sports teach kids key skills as well – they can learn how to work as a team, they can learn how to win, and lose, graciously (which will give them a massive headstart on most adults), they can also develop collaborative skills and learn to communicate – huge!
Sport is being seen as art, and while it may be hard to see, it does allow children to express themselves, burn their bags of energy away, and let off steam. Where does this happen if a hobby like sports is not an outlet?
That all being said, sports shouldn’t be the only hobby. Reading, games and other activities like cooking could be considered to supplement the healthy hobby! Also, it’s easy to see parents who are obsessed with nurturing the next David Beckham or Jessica Ennis – this isn’t the goal here. If they excel at the sport, amazing! If they don’t, that’s ok. Winning everything and being the best isn’t something that everyone that has existed has achieved – and again, that’s ok!
Your kids should be allowed to be themselves, and sports are a great way of allowing your children to get fit, express themselves and have fun! Not only that, but it’s a great way of bringing the whole family together for some good, green, fun!
