We are shortly approaching springtime, and it brings with it lots of new things. As well as the flowering plants and newborn animals, there are lots of other things that we can look forward to in spring. In the next few months, many people choose to redecorate their home or put their house on the market. Redecorating is a great way to refresh the home and bring some new ideas to your home. Though there are quite a few trends from the past year that we will still be seeing, there are plenty of others that we can bring to life in our homes. If you’re looking to make a few changes to the decor of your home, then here are some things to look out for. It will be fun to hear if you have any projects planned.
Bringing the Outdoors In
A lot of people just presume that you have to repaint a wall or get some furniture to make changes. While they are great ideas, you will be seeing lots of the outdoors brought inside this year. Plants are a great way to brighten up any room. It is definitely going to be more about plants rather than bouquets of flowers this year. Small trees and climbers like the pothos are great additions that you could add to your living room or bedroom this year. Did you know that there are lights that help your plants to grow while they are indoors? If you wanted to help your plants grow indoors, then maybe you could try this one, for example? As this trend will be strong this year, why not embrace it to its fullest?
We saw quite a lot of metals in home accessories last year. Rose gold was a particularly popular look for accessories. Especially with more and more people choosing grey for a wall color. But this year, copper is set to be the metal of choice. This, of course, is all about accessories, rather than the color of walls. So look out for copper photo frames and trinkets, as well as pendant lights and vases. Copper would look best in rooms that are warm in color, such as cream, soft orange and yellow, for example. It wouldn’t look as good in a room that is painted in ‘cold’ colors, like brilliant white and baby blue.
Hygge is the Danish trend that seems to be taking over at the moment. It is all over Pinterest and Instagram! Pronounced as hoo-ga, the style is all about keeping cozy. So it is perfect for this time of year, with thick throws, cable knitted cushion covers and scented candles. But you can still bring this style into the rest of the year. It is all about softer finishes, rather than cold, minimalistic looks. So I think we’ll be seeing less and less monochrome as we go forward. Softer pops of color will be the most popular this coming year.
