Children are prototypes on their parents. They may be unique, yet your genes run through their veins. However, it isn’t the things children say which are the most revealing. Typically, it’s what they don’t say. When people look at a child, they don’t just see an adorable face with a runny nose and a chocolate-covered mouth. No, they see the type of style the parent uses to help their child through life. Kids are not just a mirror image of their parents in appearance but personality too.
Here’s what your child may say about you without uttering a word.
Smother Or Laidback Mother
Every mom and dad cares for their kids, but some are more possessive than others. The way a parent and child act when out on the street says a lot about your parenting style. Should you constantly have your son or daughter in tow, it appears as if you don’t want to let them out of your sight. Kiddy reins are a perfect example. However, if they are walking in front without a protective guard, then you’re more laidback. Parents have varying degrees of attachment issues regarding their kid. However, smothering is never healthy.
Rags Or Riches
The clothes kids wear say a lot about the family as a whole. Of course, the quality of the outfit gives an insight into your finances. It’s not nice to think about yet it’s impossible to avoid as clothes have and always will be a status symbol. More than that, your child’s apparel shows how big a part style plays in your life. Moms and dads who invest in Nickis fashion for kids are clearly budding fashionistas. Also, they want their children to look the part whether they’re out in public or chilling inside. Clothes from less luxury retailers say that fashion takes a backseat in relation to other factors.
Vicariously Living Life
It’s clear that kids don’t make their own decisions early on in life. No one would expect them to, but people do expect digression on behalf of the parent. It isn’t uncommon to see a child rocking an outfit which looks out of place. Even if it’s cool, there’s something about a small child in a Rolling Stones t-shirt which isn’t right. Maybe it’s the fact they don’t know who the Stones are, or that their dad has made an executive style choice. Whether it’s fashion, sport or a career, parents do live vicariously through their kids.
Thrifty And Frugal
Some clothes are a little bit tired and worn yet still perfectly wearable. Depending on your parenting style, you’ll either throw them away or find another use. One such use is to pass it down to your children and pass it off as a brand new outfit. There are plenty of moms and dads who give their children hoodies and jeans because they can’t bear to throw them away. You, sir or madam, are one economic son of a gun. At least, that’s what your child says through pursed lips.
The next time you hit the shops, you may want to consider your kid’s imagery.
